Twenty years after violence tore it apart, Rwanda prospers
Summary
In the article, it shows that 20 years after the genocide, Rwanda has made stunning progress. For example, their economy has become much better. Businesses have grown, and more jobs are available. Also since 1994, the life expectancy has doubled. The amount of deaths of children under the age of 5 has dropped greatly. President Kagame believes that if they improve their education and get rid of poverty, then that will keep away violence in Rwanda. Even though Rwanda is a country that is prospering in Africa, surrounding countries are having trouble with violence outbreaks and wars, despite the fact that the International Criminal Court said that they will get involved with violence outbreaks when the government fails to protect their people. The main idea of this article is how Rwanda recovered from the genocide, and how other countries can contain violence.
Analysis
I feel that Rwanda has been successful and has learned from their mistakes. I also feel that International Criminal Court has learned from their mistakes when they didn't get involved to help end the genocide, and that they are now trying to get involved with violence in other African Countries.
