Imagine Life Without Water

In the article, California during drought explains that most of California is becoming very dangerously dry and haven't had rain for 60 days.. For example "The sidewalk was lined with yellow weeds, dying grass and trees more fit for kindling than shade” (Sanchez). Filiberta argues that California's water will be soon all shut off and what are the people going to do. The main idea of this article is to inform and persuade the reader to not  waste water because you too could live in a drought and it would be awful.

I agree with this article and the people being interviewed because it is sad to see your town die of lack of water and to me it would be very scary to have no rain for 60 days.A connection to my life with this article is that my cousin Sasha who is a year older than me lives in California that recently visited me and was talking about this very situation. She was a little nervous and worried because who would want their home to have no water and dying all around you?I feel that the people living in this awful drought will fight through it and hopefully not have to shut off their water for very long or even at all. I pray for it to rain in California.

1: Do you agree with shutting off the water in California? If you were living there right now what would you do to help?
2: What do you think the people of California should do about this situation?
3: What do you think the best way is to approach this conflict with man vs world?

  1. Katya,
I love how you used a personal connection from your own life to add more detail to your writing! You did a great job in the beginning of describing the land in California. Nice job:):):):):)

  2. I disagree with the people shutting off the water in California. Water is necesary for almost everything. They need to find another way to provide water. I hope Sasha is okay

  3. I disagree with shutting off water in California because then we wouldn't have any water resource and I don't think that's healthy.

  4. I think they shouldn't shut off the water unless they are sure they have a surplus amount of water and can live throughout this drought.

  8. I think shutting of the water fro California would be very bad because of the major ports built there and because of some of the biggest cities in the U.S. are located there. This would be bad because, most businesses would have to close and no one would want to live where there is no water supply. ;D

  9. I love how you were able to make a life-connection to this catastrophe. I hope Sasha and her family are okay. I disagree with the water shutting off in California because we need the water to survive. Without the water, how will we stay hydrated in the hot weather?

  10. I like your connection with Sasha and her family and I hope that they are okay. I disagree with shutting off the water because water is one of our resources that we need to survive. If our world didn't have water we would die very quickly.

  11. Great pictures (really liked the one with the graph).
I disagree with shutting down water in California, since shutting down water would cause more problems than not shutting down water. I also think that the people should have water limits, like only using a specific amount every week. If I was living there right now I'd probably tell my neighbors to stop wasting water or else we would have to shut down the water.

  12. I disagree with the idea of shutting off the water in California because it's a life necessity. Unless there's an abundant amount of water to provide for citizens throughout the drought, then the water shall remain turned on. If I were living there now, I'd do my best to save and conserve water during this drought period. Great job Kat

  13. Great job Katya! I really like how you made a connection to your life. A connection I had that is similar to your is, my family's country club/house in California is being threatened by the fires because of the lack of rain. Hope Sasha is ok!

  14. I think the water needs to stay on for the good of the people in California. The problem is that they will start to have hard time getting enough water for everybody. The people will need more water in this time of drought, but will be getting less of it. I don't know how we can help, but we need to find a solution. I hope the drought ends soon, so there will be no need to worry.

  15. I disagree that the state of California should shut off water completely. It would cause way to much panic and fear to be worth the savings in water. Anyway can't we as a country help by coming up with a new way of getting water to California? P.S Your comment was really cool!!

  16. I think that the people in California should be more conservative of there water if they want this situation to get better. For example they should take shorter showers and do the little things that help.

  17. I kind of agree with shutting down the water supply because the government tells the people to save water all the time but most of the people don't care about what they say and continue to waste water but now at some point the government will have to take a step. Good Job Big Mama

  18. I don't think that they should shut off the water, because it could make matters worse for the people living there.

  19. I disagree with shutting off the water in California. I believe that they should just limit the water in each household. The people of California should protest against this because it is not right.
