I think that it would be scary being trapped in a city that is being invaded by ISIS. Having to watch as your town is bombed and having to see the people you know die. I am glad to hear that the Coalition's airstrikes are having impacts on the war. I agree with what they are doing with the airstrikes, without them ISIS may have already of taken Kobani. We have to be willing to take risks so that we can be rewarded. The coalition has only struck twice Friday and Saturday versus fourteen times on Thursday and early Friday. I feel that they need to keep up the Airstrikes in order to stop ISIS.
How would you feel if you were a civilian in Kobani?
Do you think the US should continue airstrikes against ISIS?
What else, if anything, should the US do to stop ISIS from taking Kobani.

I would expect myself to be terrified if I was a citizen in Kobani, since they are being bombed. But also happy that help is coming, rather than being slaughtered by ISIS, since I prefer to live.
ReplyDeleteIf I was a civilian in Kobani I would unsafe all the time. I would probably be scared to go to school because there is good chance someone I love is going to die. I think the U.S should continue the airstrikes in ISIS because that is one of the things they didn't do to help out countries in the past and it backfired so it is smart to continue the airstrikes as they are now. I don't know how much more the U.S can do to get involved other than getting physically involved in the war which isn't an option for the U.S at the moment it isn't there place or time.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you Sophia. If I was a civilian I would have been terrified. Also I agree that there there isn't much more that the US can do but get involved physically. Overall nice job Jack!
DeleteI think that the U.S should continue to airstrike Kobani in order to prevent further ISIS movements through Turkey. Although it must be terrible to be a citizen in Kobani I think the airstrikes are needed in order to stop ISIS.
ReplyDeleteWell first of all, I would be scared as well if I was a local citizen in that area. It is also sad, and even more sad that the fact that you even called this event a "war", as it is getting more and more dangerous to the world. Second of all, I think there are big risks with the U.S. striking ISIS. One reason is that ISIS have captures some people as hostage and some towns. So, if the U.S. strikes, there becomes a risk towards those captures hostages, and the local people in the area being affected by ISIS now. Although, the advantage of the U.S. striking ISIS is that they are showing ISIS that they can, and will become involved with this "war". They can also finally put a stop to ISIS, or at least start to stop ISIS. They are, right now, causing a stopping the the advancement of ISIS. So, this is arguably a good, and has bad affects, in the U.S. striking ISIS, as of the things I have mentioned. Third of all, I think this is a good starting step towards stopping the advancement of ISIS. There are more things the U.S. could do to stop ISIS from taking Kobani, or even stopping ISIS's advancement in general. For example, the U.S. could start sending in more reinforcements into Kobani. The problem with that is that ISIS may take that into regards as a full-armed "war" between ISIS and the U.S., right there, and right then. This could also cause even more damage to that area, as well. The U.S. could just develop more ideas as to what was mentioned, but there are risks in the decisions they make, as I mentioned earlier.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good thing that Isis is being pushed back. If no one acts, then Isis will become an even bigger problem than it is now. I agree that it would be scary to be trapped and Isis surrounding you. Isis needs to be stopped. I also agree that we must take risks to be rewarded. I think that Isis should be a big focus for the world
ReplyDeleteIf I were a civilian in Kobani I would be extremely terrified because they are being bombed. I would be terrified for my family and my home and friends. I think that the people of Kobani should evacuate and the U.S. should continue airstrikes against ISIS. This is because if you eventually stop it then it would be better for everybody.
ReplyDeleteI think the coalition should keep bombing ISIS because in my mind that is the only way to keep ISIS from advancing and taking more territory with out sending troops to fight ISIS, on the ground. The one problem with this idea is that the bombs do not differentiate between civilians and soliders. I think that this is the problem with this strategy, but In my opion civilians are going to die if the coalition bombs ISIS or not.
