How did Greek Mythology affect modernization?
This is a good and reliable source because it has good supportive reviews.
There are many Greek influences on our culture today. These impacts however, are not widely known in our society. Greek cultures affects our everyday life, because they created: democracy, the alphabet, libraries, the Olympics, math, science, architecture, and even lighthouses. Greeks created things that were well made before their time such as democracy. This political system started in Athens, where it started as a Monarch, then grew to the point where a small group of people had control of the country until it finally started a Democracy. The Olympic games were influenced by Greek mythology. The Olympic games occurred once every four years, and they originated in Greece. These games were held in honor of Zeus, God of all Gods. The Olympics however were not the only game held in honor of the Gods. The Pythian games were held in favor of Apollo, and the Isthiam games were held in honor of Poseidon. Today we still celebrate the Olympic Games, and many things are similar such as awarding someone olive leaf crowns and opening and closing ceremonies.
Another way Greek mythology influences our culture is the architecture. Ancient Greece came up with the idea of using pillars. Greek mythology played a role in architecture because there were many temples and other holy plays built for worshipping Gods and Goddesses. These building were designed to look beautiful, and they did. When Rome overtook Greece, it made it’s own form of Greek Architecture using the pillars on their own buildings.
