SUMMARY:
In Australia there was a man who was peer pressured into surfing on a dead whale carcass. After jumping onto said dead whale his friends instantly noticed the swarm of fish and tiger sharks feasting on the whale. They yelled at him to get off, claiming that he was two feet away from slipping into a ocean of sharks. Authorities say that since no part of the whale was taken off or taken with him he wouldn’t be charged. They have now closed the beach with warnings of sharks and other dangerous sea animals. His mom has claimed “He’s an idiot” and his friends said they were not impressed. However the whale surfer himself says that he won’t be doing any stunts anytime soon.
ANALYSIS:
Why? Why would you surf on a dead whale? I mean, when I look at a dead whale I would probably be grossed out or something, because it’s a dead whale. But I wouldn’t surf on it, that’s weird. The lesson here is to never admit into peer pressure, even if your friends are telling you to surf on a whale. It’s not worth it, his friend weren’t even impressed, I guess you can say he whailed out.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Would you be impressed if someone surfed on a whale?
How would you react to the situation if you happened to find yourself standing on a whale surrounded by sharks?

I would be impressed if one of my friends surfed a whale, because I wouldn't have the guts to do it. If I was in that situation, I would yell and scream until someone came and helped my off.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I would be impressed if someone had surfed on a whale, I mean if it was alive sure that would be cool, but a dead one is kind of gross. I would react so much that I would fall in, because I would not do that ever if there sharks, I still wouldn't do it even if there weren't any.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you that this was a... Strange event. I also agree with his mother, about him being an idiot. That was not a smart idea even if there weren't sharks feasting on the whale carcass. I would not be impressed and I don't think I would ever find myself standing on a whale...
ReplyDeleteI agree that it was a stupid idea to surf on the whale. It seems really disgusting! I would've left the carcass alone because of bacteria growth. Maybe send in some biologists to examine the whale? I wouldn't know, I would most likely just want to leave!
ReplyDeleteThe surfer was not very smart, because he climbed onto a whale carcass and surfed on it. I am not even rometely impressed with what he did. It was stupid, reckless, and made not sence. Peer pressure is not an excuse for stupidity.
ReplyDeleteNo, I would not be impressed at all because it isn't safe or smart. Also, it is bad because this person gave into peer pressure. I would be scared and would be screaming for help.
ReplyDeleteEllie, I agree with your comment. Someone who does dangerous things to please his friends is not cool, especially if there are dangerous consequences that go with it. If I were in his place, I would assess the situation and tell my friends that I wouldn't do it.
DeleteI don't think any amount of peer pressure could ever get me to surf on a whale. I am too perfect to risk even the slightest imperfection. Also the fact that his friends weren't even impressed seams even more stupid.
ReplyDeleteI think it was not very smart, but I might be a tiny bit immpressed.
ReplyDeleteSurfing on a dead whale is a immature and dangerous decision. Nobody should be surfing on dead whales anytime soon. The fact that the "surfer" gave in to peer pressure shows that he probably doesn't have very good morals. He said he wouldn't be doing any stunts anytime soon, which is a step in the right direction. It's a good idea that the beach is shut down for now.
ReplyDeleteIf one of my friends were to try this stunt I would not be impressed i would think that they are stupid and just asking to get killed.
ReplyDeleteI would be impressed because i'm pretty sure i wouldn't have the guts to do it. if i was in his situation of whale surfing and a bunch of sharks surrounded me i would cry vigorously
