SUMMARY:
On friday a burglar was caught eating cookie dough from a woman's freezer, the man had told police he thought he was at his aunt's house. Wichita police Lt. James Espinoza said the 52-year-old resident came out of her bedroom to investigate a noise about 3:30 a.m. Thursday and she found the 28-year-old suspect eating the cookie dough from her freezer.
Espinoza said the suspect, who entered the home through an unlocked back door, told officers he thought the home belonged to his aunt and he was looking for a snack. The man, whose name was not released, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

ANALYSIS:
I find this really weird that the man said that he thought he was in his aunts house because you’d think he would know what his aunts house looks like on both the outside and inside. It’s also weird to me that the man was doing this at 3:30 a.m. because he claims it wasn’t a burglary but why would he have gotten there at 3:30? I personally would of been really scared if I was the woman. I also only think the man should be arrested if he had stolen anything that belonged to the lady whose house he broke into.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
  1. What would you have done if this was your house?
  2. Do you think the man should be arrested? Why?
  3. What do you think the man did when he was caught?

  1. If that was me, I wouldn't really care because it is just cookie dough. Actually I would make him buy me double the cookie dough he ate. I don't think he should be arrested because it is not that serious, and the suspect claims that he thought it was his aunt's house

  2. I found this article really interesting and a little bit hilarious. If this was my house, I would be really scared to hear noises at 3:30 am. But I think that the owners should have locked all of their doors. Good Job! :)

  3. If I woke up at 3:30 because of a noise in the kitchen, only to find out some random stranger was eating cookie dough out of my freezer, I probably would have freaked out and punched him in the face. Afterwards I would alert the authorities, as the woman did. The man was probably really confused when he was arrested because he thought it was his aunts house.

  4. I think this man should pay a fine instead of being arrested because he committed no crime, if he didn't steal anything. Only if his story is true should he be let go.

  5. I don't believe that there was enough proof to support that he was there because of burglary. I assume that sometimes that young adults can come in early in the morning after a long party, and sometimes it can be hard to tell whose house it is in the dark at night. It also doesn't say anything about other items being touched. Although this seems very suspicious, he shouldn't be arrested. I mean, it's cookie dough! Nothing too valuable, although it is very good.

  6. I think that this... event was a very strange event. You would think that the man would know his aunt's house from a stranger's house. I think man should have been arrested because who knows if he was trying to do something else, not just eating cookie dough.

  7. If there was a random person that I had never seen before at my house eating MY food, I would just immediately call 911 since he doesn't have permission to open MY fridge and eat my irresistible and yummy cookie dough. He should totally be arrested because first of all, it's very suspicious to go into someone's house through the window, and second, 3:30 am is when most people are already asleep.
