I think this topic is very interesting because it gives background about sports that only certain cultures play and sports that are now open to all cultures. Some cultures were either not allowed, or did not believe in certain sports’ ethnic backgrounds. Now, we have sports such as soccer, football, basketball and many more that include all cultures. They are open freely to anyone who finds an interest in it. I think it’s amazing that people with different cultures are able to join and play with others that might have different ethnic choices and views than they have. The beliefs some people have about sports being traditional and staying that way vary from others who think they should be open to everyone affect the behaviors people have towards others and themselves. Many athletes find sports to be just a game and others find it an activity that proves something to others and not just themselves. Also, in some cultures, sports can be very important to them having a future and their parents believe that they have to succeed over others in order to “beat” them. That child they want to become successful now has certain beliefs that if they aren’t good enough, they will fail their parents and others. That affects their behavior to always practice and only be focused on succeeding without having fun. I find that interesting because i play three sports and I of course want to be successful and hopefully get a scholarship, but I also participate in the because they are fun and I enjoy playing it as a team sport and not individual.
