The Outcome for Ebola Victims

The geography themes of Movement and Interaction of Humans with the Environment prove that geography isn’t destiny because there are things the U.S and other countries to get rid of Ebola and make living in Africa a better place to be.

The Movement theme of geography shows that if the U.S went to help out Western Africa they could build hospitals and transport medicines and vaccines to the people of Western Africa. According to James Butty,"The good thing about democracy is that everybody has the right to see whatever they want to see and request whatever they want to request. We are focused on responding to the Ebola crisis; we are focused on ensuring that our health delivery system is improved; we are focused that our Liberian economy gets back on track; and, we are focused on ensuring that all of the international support and assistance that are coming to Liberia can be harnessed in dealing with this Ebola crisis," Samukai said.”Govt Welcomes U.S Military Role in Ebola Fight. Not only would people in Africa be taking medication to get rid of Ebola but the U.S is going to move troops, medication, and vaccines to West Africa.  Although the vaccines for preventing Ebola aren't very good yet, the U.S and West Africa researchers are coming together to try to make it happen.

The Interaction of Humans with the Environment  theme of geography shows that once the U.S gets to Africa they can start moving citizens infected with Ebola into isolation units. According to Africa News Service, Obama states,”Well, I'm going to get to that. It's not an airborne disease, like the flu. You can only catch it through the transmission of bodily fluids where you have a strong public health infrastructure. Now, typically, there's one person who's identified, or a couple of people who are identified as having the virus. Isolate them. Run through a real tight protocol. And it-- it gets contained-- pretty effectively. The problem that we've got is in, right now, a limited portion of western Africa”.Obama Commits 'Military Assets' for Ebola Health-Care Surge. With the right protocol and medication, isolation could help many patients get better quickly. Also West Africa wouldn't have to worry about many more people getting Ebola because these patients would be moved to a new environment and isolated, away from anyone others who don’t have the disease.

The geography themes of Movement and Interaction of Humans with the Environment prove that geography isn't destiny. Countries become powerful and prosperous all the time. One day Africa can be a country with barely any problems and diseases. The citizens of Africa determine their success not geography.

  1. I do agree that the United Nations should help out with Ebola, but in a different way. Just like the case with ISIS, I don't think the U.S. should be sending US citizens to help, instead we should should just send supplies and medication. Just like Kent Brantly, a doctor helping in Africa, that contracted Ebola, luckily he was found and treated in the US.
