Movement of Ebola
The movement theme of geography shows that ideas on useful and helpful medical treatments are being transferred between countries. Patients and people with Ebola have also been moved from Africa to the United States so that US hospitals and healthcare centers are able to get a closer look at the disease and understand how to treat it. Ideas about how to mobilize the “international community” and how the disease is being transmitted quickly are being moved back and forth, according to Obama Commits “Military Assets” for Ebola Health-Care Surge, published by Africa News Service. This movement of ideas, people, and medical goods demonstrates that geography is not destiny. Though one may live in Africa and be exposed to a disease, there are many resources for him/her to prevent diseases.
Interaction with Ebola
The interaction theme of geography shows that humans have been positively engaging with our environment with the common purpose of treating those with Ebola. Humans have been testing a new Ebola vaccine with monkeys that lasts from 5 weeks up to 10 months if used in conjunction with a booster shot. The monkeys in our environment have helped doctors grasp the concept and function of the Ebola vaccine, according to Obama- International Response Needed for Ebola Outbreak, published by Africa News Service. In the article “My survival was miraculous,” by Alloycious David, physicians help treat patients diagnosed with Ebola, which is being spread throughout the African environment. This interaction between people and their environment proves that geography is not destiny because people can take action based on how a problem or disease affects their area. ![]() |

Kelly, i see what you are saying but I disagree to some extent. In my opinion the testing our doctors are doing with chimpanzees may not be enough to stop ebola before it spreads to an uncontrollable point. I think that we need to focus a lot more of our resources at the root of the disease. Working at the roots we will be able to slow down ebola spread and give us, and other countries, a lot more time to contain and eradicate the disease.
