How is Ebola Affecting Africa?

Ebola Affecting Africa

Geography is not destiny because of the themes Movement and Interaction with the environment that in West Africa that the people didn’t start the disease known as Ebola and they didn’t know about it.

The theme Interaction with the environment shows that geography is not destiny because if the people knew the virus was around they would’ve went away from the disease. In the Ebola is a “national security priority” article it said that the first person infected by Ebola was bitten by a bat. If the people in the infected area knew about the bats and their environment they would’ve stayed away from them or stayed away from the disease. No one knew that the bite from a bat would give you a disease that changed your whole country. If the people knew this they probably would’ve left unless they had no common sense. Also no one knew that this one bat would start a disease. There are a lot of bats and a lot of people get bit by them. Therefore this shows that for the people in Africa, geography is not destiny because they never knew about the disease in their environment.

The theme Movement shows that geography is not destiny because if the people in Africa were warned about the disease then they would have been more careful. In the article about Coca-Cola donating goods to West Africa, it says that West Africa cannot support itself right now because of the disease. If ideas and people moved to West Africa and told them about the disease they would’ve been more careful. This disease came up randomly so doctors and normal people never knew about it. This made the situation way more stressful because people got more nervous because they didn’t know anything about Ebola. This has made the world more stressed too because they don’t know what is going to happen to their country and if the disease will come to them. This shows that the people in West Africa, suffering from Ebola, that geography was not destiny for them because if the civilians knew about the disease they wouldn’t have stayed in the area they lived in.

  1. I agree with everything that you have stated. But I don't agree with the statement they have no common senses. I just don't think they have the reasources and money to be able to leave and get away from the disease. Do you know what Coca-Cola is donating?
