Is social media really bringing people closer?

We are always on some type of social media trying to try and keep up with peoples life and news, but are we really learning, seeing and meeting new people?

Teens every day at all times all over the world have their hands and eyes glued to a mobile device either texting, snapchatting, on instagram, facebook, or twitter reading and seeing what's going on varying from their friends to family lives.

According to the Huffington Post,Girls were the most verbose in their findings too -- they send 3,952 messages per month compared to 2,815 by the boys”(Samakow). This is how many texts are sent from on average teenage boy or girl monthly. Jessica Samakow claims, “80% of all teenagers use some type of social media”(Samakow). This is more than half of all the teens in the world, shutting people out and logging them selves into a whole new world seen through a screen.

The Huffington Posts states, ‘“social media is like a drug" to many kids”(Samakow). Social media is very addicting to young minds varying from friends to fashion to games. The great thing about social media is that there is something for everyone to follow and see whatever interests them.
