Thesis: The new technology in the most recent Tesla car, the Model S, will make roads safer by using its auto-pilot features to take human error out of driving in residential and high way areas, and by making driving in adverse weather much easier.
The Model S has auto-pilot features, some of the first ever seen. It can drive itself 90% of the time. On the highway, it can manage itself according to other cars, and even with a GPS connection, change lanes and exit by itself. It can read road signs, so it will able to drive in residential areas too. One of the best parts is that if you are somewhere in a town without your car, you can call it to you, and it an get itself to you safely without you making any effort. I think that this will make driving much safer by solving the problem of human error in driving. The things a lot of crashes are caused by like texting would no longer be a problem. A downside to this is that you are trusting a computer program with your life, and it only takes a few seconds for a glitch to take over.
Another very cool feature on the Model S is its ability to drive in very adverse weather. It uses electronic waves to sense what it is around it, these can go through snow, sand, rain, etc. Therefore its visibility in bad weather is no different from in good weather. I believe that this perk brings the most benefits to driving because it makes a time when people are usually unable to drive or drive well navigate-able. In addition, the number of crashes related to visibility will be diminished. Though traction itself will not improve. Even after this, some people may think that they don't want the car. It has some amazing features outside of safety - it can drive itself to you and pick you up. Undeniably this is the car of the future, The roads would be much safer and quicker if there were more of these cars on it.
