  1. In the article it statesAlcohol, cigarette or drug use” is a con from teenagers watching too much television.
    1. This is a very bad effect because it will make kids think it is cool and they will want to do it more. The effect of drugs and alcohol can be devastating on teens. Plus it is extremely illegal, which could cause many kids to have their lives ruined.
  2. Another quote is “Cursing or other verbal obscenities” which is another con from over usage of the television.
    1. Since on television these days there is a lot of cursing, kids will be accustomed to hearing this type of speaking so they will want to speak like this. Or maybe it will just become a normal thing for them and they will do it without even thinking about it which is very bad!
  3. Also the article talks about how body image is portrayed in bad ways.
    1. Teens are portrayed with perfect bodies and are given unrealistic standards. People in shows are shown always with make up and are edited to look perfect. So people try to achieve things that truly aren’t able to be done
  4. At the university of Iowa they studied teens and state the the average teen is exposed to 14,000 sexual jokes from television every year.
    1. This can show why teens can act very inappropriately at certain situations. This can also lead to kids having misconceptions about their sex and other sexes.
  5. In the article it states “when children grow up to be teenagers, and step out of the educational television arena, that is when TV potentially becomes a negative influence.”
    1. This is true because in childhood you usually watch educational shows, but once they reach their teens they start to watch shows that actually them them things that are wrong which can hurt their education.
